Health Coaching gave her motivation and accountability
|
Many people look at me strangely when I say I am a health coach, mainly because they do not really know what it means. Basically a health coach is like any other coach, it is someone that gives you advice, provides knowledge and support and makes you accountable. So when Trish contacted me after finding my services on the SMEAEP website we had a chat and made a plan. She had been told by her doctor she had adrenal fatigue so immediately purchased the Adrenal Stress profile test. Once we received her results the health coaching began. We worked on a few issues at a time but not over loading Trish so she could work on making gradual changes to her lifestyle and diet. Over a period of months Trish found more energy and gained more family support in improving her quality of life. Having both client demands during the day in her business and a busy growing family outside of that Trish found the support and accountability of health coaching well worth her while. The 12 Wk challenge - lose weight and get healthy!
One of the services we offer is the 12 week challenge, this is a program that has been developed to help people lose weight, get fitter and generally feel better about themselves.
Steve came to me wanting to do just this and so the 12 week challenge was set in place. This involved:
Over the course of the 12 weeks Steve managed to lose a little over 10kgs which was massive for him. He had his bloods taken soon after and his triglyceride numbers were vastly improved as was his LDL cholesterol. Blood sugar control was also improved. Steve was a happy man but had also learnt a great deal along the way about how to look after his body and his overall health by fueling it right and being respectful of what was healthy and what was not. Muscle activation helped give a better quality of life
As a health professional we come across all sorts of conditions and ailments, and love the opportunity to step in and make a difference. So when John came to me with a severe leg length difference in the femur, I was ready for the challenge.
Despite a built up shoe, this was causing several problems with back and knee pain and creating more pressure on the lower side hip, knee and ankle. After a full assessment we discovered that some of John's back muscles were not firing. This can happen when the brain loses contact with certain parts of the body for multiple reasons. My job was to get them to switch back on so that the body was more balanced, hence taking pressure off the lower side so there would be less wear and tear. Over the course of a few weeks we were able to get most muscles switched back on and this really helped John's back pain in particular. There is still work to be done. But this was a great example of being able to help a client who was suffering and using muscle activation techniques give him a better quality of life. |
"Rich understands adrenal fatigue better than any other health professional I have found.
"Having previously had an operation on my disc in my back and also issues last year with a prolapsed disc I was nervous taking these classes. |
